The girls also have the opportunity to apply for a One by One mentor if they would like one. December 2022: Thank you to the ladies from the Overflow Bible Study at Second Presbyterian Church, led by Leesa Jensen, who donated bags of canned goods, dessert, snacks, baby wipes, and baby toiletries to our Mom Blessing Day! Our moms loved receiving these items! Leesa’s daughter, Grace Knight, is the One by One Coordinator at Second Presbyterian, and she shared her testimony of serving as a OBO mentor at the ladies’ Bible study. Thank you, Grace, for all you do for OBO!

October 2022: Members of Bellevue Baptist Church made approximately 70 gift baskets for One by One’s upcoming Mom Blessing Day as part of their Bellevue Loves Memphis service day.
October 2022: One by One’s Joyel Wiley and Kristy Dunaway speak to a group of high school students from Briarcrest Christian School who volunteered to organize baby clothes and items donated to our Mentor Closet and to sort and roll change donated through our Coin Container program.

July 2022: One by One hosted a Ministry Leaders’ Luncheon for churches and other organizations in Memphis who were interested in learning more about us and how we help moms in need. We were excited to have 22 organizations at the event. Executive Director Heather McCaskill and Memphis Ministry Director Marion Weaver explained the many ways organizations can help us serve pregnant and new moms.
July 2022: Thank you to Life Choices - Memphis for providing excellent continuing education training to our One by One staff. We are thankful to partner with Life Choices as we both look to support moms in the Memphis area.
July 2022: This One by One mom (pictured with her mentor and coordinator) needed transportation assistance, and MidSouth Hope Garage came through big by giving this car to her. Thank you to MidSouth Hope Garage for helping this OBO mom!

June 2022: One by One was excited to visit the Dorothy Day House in Memphis, TN. We’re always grateful for partnerships that help our moms who are facing homelessness.
June 2022: One by One staff, coordinators, and mentors were excited to participate in Faith Baptist Bartlett’s One Less Orphan 5k! Shout out to our own Heather McCaskill for placing second in her age group! Thank you to Faith Baptist for supporting One by One with some of the proceeds from the race!
May 2022: MidSouth Hope Garage in Memphis, TN, blessed One by One moms with free air filter, tire, and fluid checks as well as oil changes. Small groups from Harvest Church in Germantown, TN, helped out by donating gas cards and washing cars.
May 2022: 901 POP (Petals of Purpose) in Memphis, TN, arranged flowers to donate with handwritten notes with Bible verses for our One by One moms and mentors. 901 POP repurposes flowers donated from weddings and donates arrangements to area organizations.
May 2022: Volunteers from Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, TN, arranged flowers to donate to One by One moms and mentors as part of their Bellevue Loves Memphis day of service.
April 2022: A group of ladies attending the Women’s Retreat at Harvest Church (Germantown, TN) wrapped necklaces they donated along with devotionals donated by The 1687 Foundation to give to One by One moms.
April 2022: Several members of One by One’s Memphis staff gathered at Central Church in Collierville, TN, for a screening of the movie Unplanned about pro-life activist Abby Johnson. Abby was a clinic director at Planned Parenthood when she first witnessed an abortion. The movie details her transformation as she quite Planned Parenthood to advocate for life. The Memphis Coalition for Life sponsored this event.
April 2022: Friends at Pinnacle Financial Partners in Memphis, TN, collected and donated diapers and other baby items to One by One as part of their Day of Service.
April 2022: One by One’s Board of Directors had its quarterly meeting at the end of April. We are thankful for the men and women in our community who volunteer their time and talents to serve on our board.

March 2022: Memphis Ministry Director Marion Weaver and Match Advocate Nechia Cunningham represented One by One at a Drive-Through Baby Shower at New Direction Church in Memphis, TN. The University of Memphis and Latino Memphis sponsored the event. Marion and Nechia shared information about One by One and gave out baby food to more than 200 local families with newborns or who are expecting a baby soon.
March 2022: One by One Memphis Ministry Director Marion Weaver shared the gospel with participants at the Morning Center’s birthing class in March. The Morning Center, which operates out of Leawood Baptist Church in Memphis, TN, is a referral source for One by One. Marion also shared information on One by One with the moms and dads who attended the class.
February 2022: One by One Match Advocate Nechia Cunningham met with The Memphis Dream Center which donated a car-load of Plum Organics baby food and Super Puffs to One by One for us to give out to our moms.
February 2022: One by One is thrilled to be a recipient of The Southern Black Girls’ Black Girl Dream Fund Grant from the organization’s inaugural round of funding. The Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium is working to promote opportunities for black girls and women in 12 states in the Southeastern U.S. We’re excited to use this grant funding to recruit and train more black women as mentors and recruit more black moms looking for mentoring support.
February 2022: Middle school girls from the Disciple NOW program at Kirby Woods Baptist Church in Memphis, TN, gathered to write notes to One by One moms and to organize donations to our mentor closet located at Kirby Woods.
February 2022: Middle school boys from the Disciple NOW program at Kirby Woods Baptist Church in Memphis, TN, spent a Saturday morning sorting and counting almost $900 in change donated through our Coin Container Drive.
February 2022: Pinnacle Financial Partners in Memphis, TN, donated four computer monitors to One by One. Executive Director Heather McCaskill used one to set up a second screen to switch easily between projects.
January 2022: Memphis Ministry Director Marion Weaver represented One by One at Christ Church’s Soup for the Soul event in Memphis, TN.
November 2021: A Girl and A Gun Shooting Club in Memphis, TN, collected coins for One by One as part of our Coin Container Drive.
November, 2021: One by One Executive Director Heather McCaskill was invited to speak at a lunch and learn for DCI Cares in Memphis, TN.
