One by One offers friendship, hope, support, and parent education to new moms through mentoring.

Many moms come to One by One scared, alone, experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, and unsure what to do next. Some moms come to us because they need a friend or someone outside of family to talk to, Whatever her reason, our goal is to provide a lifeline to each mom - to love and support her, providing hope, encouragement, and parent education - from the moment she learns she’s pregnant until her baby turns one.

We train volunteers from the faith community to serve as mentors to women who are pregnant or who are brand new moms. We provide each mentor with everything she needs to serve her mom, including lesson plans for every meeting and activities to share with her mom to help her support her baby’s social, language, emotional, and motor skill development.

A mentor will

  • Talk/text with her mom weekly and meet with her monthly.

  • Offer friendship and support without judgment.

  • Answer her mom’s questions.

  • Share activities and parenting strategies.

  • Help her mom capture the story of her child’s first year of life.

  • Steer the mom toward other resources that she might need.

  • Share the love and hope found only in Christ Jesus with her mom.

  • Communicate with One by One to let us know how the match is going.

“My experience with my mom has been by turns challenging, rewarding, frustrating, and eye-opening. I have a new appreciation for the problems a young woman faces in this situation. When I think back to how immature I was at her age, my empathy for her deepens.

There’s no doubt in my mind that the One by One program is having a positive impact on her. Her baby is now almost six months old, and we have both fallen in love with this precious gift from God! I believe God has placed us in each other’s lives! We have connected, and that’s amazing to me.”
