New Mentor Training Guide Q&A
Q: Why did you create a new mentor guide?
A: We created a new mentor guide to streamline our materials and simplify the mentoring process. Now there are 4 simple steps to every mentoring visit, reducing the preparation time required. In addition, the new mentor guide includes a volunteer resource section which outlines all of the updated resources available to One by One mentors through the volunteer portal on our website. (Examples: New life-skills lessons, continuing education videos, digital lesson plans, and more!)
Q: Do I need to go through training again?
A: No. If you have already completed mentor training, you do not need to train again. The new guide incorporates all of the same Parent Pack pages, just with a streamlined visit planning process.
Q: Can I receive a new mentor guide and go through training again if I would like to?
A: Yes. Any current mentor can request a new mentor guide and attend mentor training using the new guide if desired.
Q: You mentioned life-skills lessons. If I'm already a mentor, where can I get this information to share with my mom?
A: We will be posting more content - including life-skills lessons - on the volunteer portal of our website. We encourage mentors to take advantage of the information on this portal for additional training and for the life-skills information.
Q: Does the new mentor training guide include EvanTell information?
A: We will now be including evangelism training in our mentor training, so new mentors do not need to take the EvanTell training separately. However, we will continue to share the link to the EvanTell training and additional resources for mentors to access if they would like more information on how to share the Gospel.
Q: Is there anything else I should know?
A: We will discuss the new mentor guide at our upcoming Coordinator meetings and at our Volunteer Gatherings. You can direct any other questions you have about the guide to admin@onebyoneusa.org.
