One by One Virtual Ministry

serving moms across the US, regardless of geographical location

One by One is now accepting applications from women wishing to serve as virtual mentors. The training process is the same; the difference is virtual mentors will meet with their matched moms via FaceTime, Zoom, or another virtual platform instead of in-person. If you are interested in applying to serve as a virtual mentor, complete the application and consent to background check. On the application, be sure to select “MY COMMUNITY IS NOT LISTED” under the “community” drop-down item. You can also click below for dates and times of our upcoming mentor training sessions.

Questions about the virtual ministry? We have answers!

Q: Why did you decide to launch a virtual mentoring program?

A: We were receiving requests form women across the country who were asking if we had a One by One mentoring program in their areas, so we began looking for ways to serve women who do not live in our geographic regions. During COVID, we had to adjust to virtual meetings, so we decided we could use our experience serving moms during COVID to develop a virtual program. We received grant funding to develop and pilot the program, which we did in 2022. The virtual program will allow us to expand our reach so that we can now serve any mom in the US regardless of her geographical location.

Q: How will the virtual program work?

A: Virtual mentors will receive the same training and training materials that our in-person mentors receive. Mentors and moms will meet via FaceTime, Zoom, or other virtual platforms (TBD by the mom and mentor based on the mom's access to programs) for their monthly meetings. Weekly texts and calls will take place as usual. Mentors will still complete and submit monthly contact forms to OBO. We have created "Blessing Boxes" that we will mail to virtual moms on a quarterly basis. Each box will include all of the materials moms generally receive for that quarter's meetings, including the "Hello, Little One" pages. (Huge thank you to International Paper for donating the boxes to us!)

Q: Can I switch from being an in-person mentor to a virtual mentor?

A: We prefer that you don't! In-person meetings allow us to develop stronger relationships with the moms we serve, so our hope is that all of our in-person mentors continue to stay involved in our in-person programs. However, should your situation change (for example, you move to another area), we would be happy to switch you over to a virtual mentor to continue serving your currently matched mom or to serve a mom in the virtual program.

Q: How do I apply to become a virtual mentor?

A: We are currently recruiting women to serve as virtual mentors. The process for applying to be a virtual mentor is the same as the process for applying to be an in-person mentor. To apply, click here and complete the mentor application and background check release. (NOTE: On the application, under community, be sure to select “My community is not listed.”)

Q: What else do I need to know?

A: Please share information about our program with churches, pregnancy centers, and other organizations supporting moms outside of our current geogrphical areas. Anyone organization interested in learning more about working with One by One can contact Elizabeth Tangco, Virtual Ministry Director, at etangco@onebyoneusa.org.

Q: Do virtual mentors need prayer partners?

A: Yes. Virtual mentors will need prayer partners. Virtual prayer partners will follow the same application process as in-person prayer partners. Click here to apply. Please select “My community is not listed” under the “Community” tab.

Q: I have more questions.

A: Elizabeth Tangco is our Virtual Ministry Director. You can email her at etangco@onebyoneusa.org.
