Why the need?

One by One came to Memphis in 2008 and moved our headquarters to the city in 2014. We serve moms in the greater Memphis area including North Mississippi. In addition to our Memphis Ministry Director, all of our support staff is located in the Memphis office.

Memphis Statistics:

  • More than 60% of births are to single moms.

  • More than 80% of children in poverty live with single moms.

  • More than 90% of teen moms are single and without skills needed to parent well.

  • While the infant mortality rate - which has been among the highest in the U.S. - has decreased, black infant are still 1.5 more likely to be born early, twice as likely to have low birth weights, and 2.2 times more likely to die before their first birthday than white infants. (The UofM Institute for Public Service Reporting)

  • Black mothers are almost three times more likely to die in childbirth than white moms, regardless of socioeconomic status.

Memphis Community Engagement Director Marion Weaver

Marion joined One by One as the Memphis Ministry Director in June 2018 and became Community Engagement Director in May 2024. Marion loves the Lord, loves people, and has a passion for One by One! She longs to be used by the Lord for His kingdom and His glory. She is a long-time member of Kirby Woods Baptist Church. She is a committed Bible study teacher and disciple-maker of women. Memphis Ministry Director Artricia Transou

Artricia joined One by One as the Memphis Ministry Director in May of 2024. She is passionate about people and ministry and considers joining One by One ordained by God for the fulfillment of His purpose on her life. She and her husband of 23 years pastor Prevailing Point Ministries where she faithfully serves the congregants and the Whitehaven community.
